Free Up Your Time in 2019
The New Year is upon us— everyone is bright eyed and bushy tailed, setting goals for 2019. Half of the universe has decided to commit to hitting the gym, totally set on getting a bikini bod by June.
Don’t get me wrong, I have already planned out my workouts for the next month. I’m pretty excited about it. I’ve been needing to lose the baby weight that I am now just pretending is baby weight even though its been a solid two and a half years. Goals are goals.
Then there’s the entrepreneurs. They’re my people. They spent all last year hustling— building their empire, reaching new highs and low lows. Wanting to quit, changing it up, pushing through, all in the name of a dream. 2019 is a mile marker for them, not a stopping place.
Let’s switch it up a little. I could talk all day about my personal goals as an entrepreneur and what yours should be. I could write a list of the top goals you should have for 2019.
I’m going to talk to you instead about work-life balance.
My ideal clients are strong, bold, business minded women. You are bad ass. You don’t take no for an answer. You are creative, focused, and driven in your field. Passionate.
Why is this my ideal client?
Because this is me. My ideal client is who I am and who I want to be and who I want to surround myself with. And if you’re my ideal client, then I am your ideal Virtual Assistant. Because we are who we surround ourselves with.
However.
This is big.
Despite being strong and bold and passionate. We are also workaholics. Ladies— this is not always a good thing. Especially when you have a family. Especially when you have friends. Especially when you have a life that is not all work.
Something that has been on my heart lately is this phrase— some people are so poor, all they have is money. I saw it painted on an abandoned building while riding a school bus with my son on his preschool field trip. The first field trip that I have ever gone on (out of several, he’s my second oldest… I really dropped the ball here). Because I was too busy working for all of the other ones.
So. Work-Life Balance. It’s a big thing. Not paying attention to it will leave you burnt out and alone.
How can you focus more on balance in this coming year?
Outsourcing.
You have to live up to the fact that you can not do it all. There are only 24 hours in a day, you can not be stretched in ten different directions and expect to end up intact.
You can outsource in a few ways. Hiring an employee, virtual assistant, real life assistant. Somebody. Accept the help.
If your company is in a position to pay someone to take some of the weight off of your shoulders, then run with it.
What if you are just not able to yet? You don’t have the revenue that you need to pay someone.
Let me tell you the great thing about Virtual Assistants. They are independent contractors. You aren’t paying for their benefits. You aren’t hiring them for 40 hours a week (unless you want to), you give them a task, they complete it. It can be long-term contract work or it could be an occasional project.
Don’t like the work you received? Find a new VA for the next project.
Be clear with your expectations and the budget that you need them to work within. It sets you both up for success.
Stop letting your workaholic ways get in your way. Achieve balance in this new year. Your business AND your family will thank you for it.
Your business should be working for you, you shouldn’t have to be a slave to it.
